MENO STREIKO BIENALĖ. ALYTUS 2009 

Pasitikdami Lietuvos paminėjimo tūkstantmetį 2009 metais teigiame, kad pasirinkta valstybinė forma tai paminėti skelbiant Vilnių Europos kultūros sostine neatitinka nei pirmojo paminėjimo turinio, nei  geografinės vietos.

Atvirai negatyvus Lietuvos paminėjimo faktas prieš tūkstantmetį - vietos laukiniai nukirto galvą vyskupui ir vienuoliui Šv. Brunonui, kuris „su 18 saviškių tuoj pat nukeliavo i dangų“ nelabai derinasi su establišmento spindesiu persunktu Europos kultūros sostinės įvaizdžiu. O pasirinkta vieta greičiau atspindi šiandieninės valstybės uzurpacinį politinį charakterį, nes vargšui Brunonui galvą nukirto šiandieninio Alytaus teritorijoje.

Tokiu būdu visuotinio meno streiko Alytuje organizavimas – tai siekis kiek galima adekvačiau pratęsti tūkstantmetę kritinio-kontrakultūrinio mąstymo tradiciją.

Faktiškai renginį Alytuje 2009 metais reikėtų vadinti mileniumienale, bet nuo šiol mes ketiname kiek dažniau rengti panašaus pobūdžio renginius.

THE ART STRIKE BIENNIAL. ALYTUS 2009 

Under the banner of official celebration of the 1000th anniversary of the first recorded mention of the name Lithuania we insist on the wrong form the State has chosen for it. It fits neither to the content nor to the geography of the events 1000 years ago.

Evidently negative the fact Lithuania was first mentioned in written sources in 1009 – local savages in these lands decapitated the bishop and monk St. Bruno, who “immediately went to heaven along with 18 others of his lot” – doesn’t fit with the glossy cultural establishment of the “European Capital for Culture”.

Either geographically the place chosen is a wrong one – originally the bishop was decapitated in the place were Alytus is located now.

Therefore the Art Strike’s organization in Alytus in 2009 means nothing else but prolongation of the thousand years old tradition of critical and contra-cultural thought.

In fact the event should be treated as milleniumienial, but we take the responsibility to arrange it much frequent in the future.
